CAMERA OBSCURA PHOTOGRAPHY STUDIO AT REGENT’S PARK ESTATE!

As part of the Regent's Park Estate Story Trail Project, photographer, artist and educator Brendan Barry will be creating a room-sized camera photographic portrait studio and darkroom at Bow Arts, Stanhope Street, NW1 and will be using it to capture wonderful portraits of residents of Regent's Park Estate!

Would you like a unique individual, couple or family portrait captured on a giant camera that you operate from the inside?! All residents of Regent’s Park Estate, past and present are welcome!

We invite you to come and experience the magic of the photographic processes, from inside the camera itself! You will be involved in the creation of your portrait in the darkroom by collaborating in its development and also be a part of an exciting public art project on the estate.

The finished portraits will form part of a giant mural displayed on the estate to celebrate the vibrancy and diversity of the people who live here!

The process in which your image will be made will be in black and white, however, at a later date we will bring them to life by adding colour to the prints in a fun and interactive way!

**A camera obscura is a darkened space or room which has a small hole or lens at one side through which light travels, resulting in an image of the outside world projected onto a facing wall or screen.

WHAT TO WEAR: Whatever you are comfortable in, however, bold patterns, contrasting colours and graphic shapes work really well in the photographs! Try to avoid dressing all in black if possible (unless of course this is what you are most comfortable in in which case this is absolutely fine).

CONSENT: Please be aware that the photographs taken are intended to form part of a public art display so you will need to be comfortable with your portrait being displayed in public. If you are not comfortable with this but would still like to be a part of the project and represented in the final outcome then you are more than welcome to bring along an object to represent you. An ornament from your home, family heirloom, or a small sculpture for example. Alternatively we could photograph your hands, profile or your silhouette if that would make you more comfortable

TIMING:  Please be on time, there will be instructions at the door and someone will come and greet you. The session will take about 30 minutes.

IMAGES: You will be given a print of your portrait as well as a digital file of the photograph that you are welcome to do with as you please.

COSTS: There are absolutely no costs (hidden or otherwise) it is entirely free!
