A big thank you to everyone that came and supported the children and a huge thank you to the Mayor of Camden, Cllr Eddie Hanson who gave a really beautiful and heart felt message to the children and audience and so grateful to his continuous support.

ABOUT

Remix Dance has worked with over 750 local children, young people and families from 25 different cultural backgrounds, many of whom do not otherwise socialise together outside of the school environment. It produces multiple dance productions throughout the year, as well as providing opportunities to perform at local events, theatre shows, and festivals in a range of indoor and outdoor venues.

Co-founded by Mariam Hassan and dance teacher Mia Stott-Cohen, the dance project has been running in the Regent’s Park Estate for the last 15 years, and now based at Old Diorama Arts Centre. With the appointment of Mariam Hassan as Local Participation Manager, Remix Dance has become an in-house project at ODAC, supporting its expansion and providing more arts-led opportunities for children and young people.

In 2023, we welcomed ‘Boogie’ (original founding member of Flawless Dance) to join the team. Boogie teaches Hip Hop dance on Wednesdays with Mia teaching Street Dance on Thursdays.

Former Remix Dance members Niva Pradhan and Maryam Bolaji were appointed last year as Participation Assistants - supporting Boogie and Mia and the children in creating a safe space and a fun dance session for all.

As well as benefits to the children’s health and well-being, Remix Dance is much more than a dance project - it enables community cohesion, bringing together local families in a positive and inspiring environment.
