WORKSHOPS AT THE MAKESHOP

January 2026 - Make It Happen Workshops

Make It Happen are our accessible, friendly, DIY skill-sharing workshops - open to everyone who wants to get making! Each Tuesday evening this January, we’re working together to upcycle, learn new, practical skills, and plan projects to make our area a better, brighter, more connected, and more sustainable place.

January 13th, 20th, and 27th, we’ll be working with all things textiles, so come along if you’d like to learn how to upcycle clothes into something new, use a sewing machine, or repair fabric.

Come to learn, express yourself, share a cup of tea, and collaborate; from crafting with cans, upcycling discarded street furniture, or becoming proficient with power tools - we make it happen at the Makeshop.

When? Tuesday 13th, 20th, and 27th January from 5 pm - 7:30 pm

What? Make It Happen - Textile Workshops

Who’s it for? From complete beginners to confident makers - everyone is welcome to join in! Our workshops are for people aged 16 and over. Younger folks are welcome if accompanied by a responsible adult.

Do I need to book? If you haven’t attended a session before, please email caitlin@olddiorama.com to let us know you’re planning to attend, so we can provide any additional information about the session.

Thursday sessions coming soon! Stay tuned!

WHO LEADS THE WORKSHOPS?

The workshops are delivered and facilitated by artist and community organiser Caitlin Strongarm.

A bit about the artist:
Hi! I’m Caitlin, or Caito; an anti-capitalist artist, community organiser, facilitator and maker. I’m a self-taught, curious and inventive DIYer who loves to explore creative-reuse of all manner of materials and mediums; sewing and textiles, wood and metalworking, paint, clay, plastic junk… I love to play with it all and see what can be made! I facilitate accessible workshops where anyone can come and develop their own makings skills, and curate immersive spaces for communities to connect and collaborate together.
