WORKSHOPS AT THE MAKESHOP

WHAT’S HAPPENING AND HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

The Neighbourhood Makeshop is a collaborative community space open for all who have dreams of DIY, are inspired to upcycle, and want to get creative with craft. Responding to residents’ requests, it’s your local workshop with an extensive library of tools, specialist equipment, and materials and space to make, seeking people with projects to bring the space alive!

WHO IS LEADING THE WORKSHOPS?

The workshops are delivered and facilitated by artist and community organiser Caitlin Strongarm.

A bit about the artist:
Hi! I’m Caitlin, or Caito; an anti-capitalist artist, community organiser, facilitator and maker. I’m a self-taught, curious and inventive DIYer who loves to explore creative-reuse of all manner of materials and mediums; sewing and textiles, wood and metalworking, paint, clay, plastic junk… I love to play with it all and see what can be made! I facilitate accessible workshops where anyone can come and develop their own makings skills, and curate immersive spaces for communities to connect and collaborate together.

GET INVOLVED!

MAKING THE MAKESHOP

The Neighbourhood Makeshop needs you! We’ve got the space and the tools, and need community collaborators to flex their making skills over September to build our workshop!

We’ll be building storage and organisers for Makshop equipment, and creating art to bring the space alive - so come and get familiar with our tools, make something to be shared, and learn skills to build your own projects:

We’ll be:

  • Using power tools and paint to create shelving and storage solutions

  • Sewing aprons, curtains, cushions and hanging organisers

  • Repairing furniture and items for use in the makeshop
